About the Austin Math Circle

The Austin Math Circle is an outreach program founded by Dr. Brook Randal and Dr. Josh Dever, coaches of the Austin Area Homeschoolers Math Team, to support students across Austin interested in high-level math competitions.

About the Contest Organizers

Matthew Kroesche has been the director of the Austin Math Circle Practice MATHCOUNTS since 2020. Matthew is a PhD student at Texas A&M University and has been involved with the Austin Area Homeschoolers/Austin Math Circle team since 2010. He qualified for MATHCOUNTS State in 2011, and since then has gone on to compete in contests such as USAMO, ARML, and the Putnam exam. Aside from organizing the Austin Math Circle Practice MATHCOUNTS, he also serves as a coach for the Texas ARML Team and the Texas HMMT November Team.

Jay Leeds is the founder of the Austin Math Circle Practice MATHCOUNTS and served as the director in 2018 and 2019. Jay is a student at Swarthmore College and has also been involved with the Austin Area Homeschoolers/Austin Math Circle team since 2010. In middle school, he competed at MATHCOUNTS State three times, and more recently, he qualified for the USAMO and organized the Texas November HMMT team, which placed first at HMMT November 2018.
